The department of nephrology is dedicated to the understanding of kidney
diseases, their development, progression, treatment and prevention. The
faculty is at the forefront of research and patient care in the field of
kidney disease. Pursuit of excellence in patient care through the
improvement of the understanding of disease processes and the development of
new strategies in the treatment of individuals with kidney disease is our
BASIC NEPHROLOGY CARE
We offer both inpatient and OPD care to all nephrology patients round the
clock. This includes counseling, management of all kidney disorder,
procedures and the support of systems affected by kidney diseases. Services
for kidney biopsies, dialysis and kidney transplantation at IAH New Delhi
are also available. It is a close knit unit which includes highly
specialized nephrologists, urologist dealicated team of surgeons.
The department of nephrology is supported by a complete hematology ,
biochemistry, and radiology. The microbiology support in post transplant

The department has the latest computerized bicarbonate hemodialysis machines
with volumetric ultra filtration and adjustable sodium facility to ensure
We provides regular dialysis services from 7.00a.m to 8.00a.m (3 shifts). We
have separate isolated units for hepatitis B and HIV infection patient in
IAH, New Delhi.
Continuous monitoring of sick patients on dialysis is done throughout the
dialytic procedure with the help of a highly specialized monitor.
More than 4000 hemodialysis are performed in 2 years ( 3 shifts of dialysis
of 4 hours each ) including ICU dialysis, by a highly trained technical and
nursing staff under the guidance of dialysis medical officers, and overall
supervision of senior consultants.
CRITICAL CARE NEPHROLOGY
The department of nephrology is a major participant in intensive care by
providing care to ICU patients with acute renal failure, volume disturbances
or electrolyte and acid base disorder.
We have several techniques for treatment of ICU acute renal failure such as
slow continuous venovenous hemofiltration, bed side hemodialysis depending
on patient's requirements and underlying disease.
Much of the work with ICU patients is related and acute renal failures
following polytrauma, multiorgan failure of any origin etc.

The radiologist works closely with the pediatric urologist and the
department of Neo-natology particularly in fetal diagnosis and medical care
of patient with complex urological problems.
A full range of pediatric urology services are provided including bladder
and kidney reconstruction, genital reconstruction and minimally invasive
